Experience as an offshore Shift Engineer on both shallow and deep water projects, supervising drilling and sampling operations, PCPT testing, offshore laboratory testing and supervising lab techs. Involved in writing factual and interpretive reports, including producing borehole logs to international standards, scheduling onshore testing, deriving engineering parameters and providing the engineering for spudcan analysis and pile design for platform emplacement. Significant projects include working off the Ivory Coast, off Turkemnistan in the Caspian Sea, off the UK and Germany in the North Sea and offshore Russia in the Barents Sea.

Work involved project management from the award of the job through to the final report. This included Phase I desk studies, organisation of siteworks, supervision of siteworks, scheduling laboratory testing, writing reports and invoicing. Site experience included over-water near-shore investigations on jack-up barges, railway (PTS) work, motorway work, investigations completed on large construction sites, greenfield sites and housing developments. Experienced in the use of site investigation techniques including rotary drilling, cable percussion drilling, window sampling and trial pitting, along with site testing including CBRs, soakaways and gas and water monitoring installations. Significant projects include secondment to Thames Water as a client rep for a near-shore jack-up barge investigation, 2 months managing near-shore work in the Shetland Islands, 6 months spent on the Cardiff Area Signal Renewal and investigation work into the Blackfriars Bridge redevelopment.
