As the sole marketer, managing five brands, and covering the entire marketing mix, my role involved brand management, content creation, and strategic planning. I ran the day-to-day activities for our brands, such as social media, content marketing and email marketing, and form and implement the strategic direction for each. I also participated in Executive Leadership Team meetings, bringing a marketing and PR perspective to Board decision-making. We launched an aparthotel in central Cambridge, UK. I ran the marketing campaign in all capacities, worked with marketing agencies to give creative direction for the website, and produced all the collateral for the event marketing. This included leaflets, business cards, coasters, and other in-house collateral needed for the aparthotel, all of which I wrote and designed.

My role here involved internal and external communications. My responsibilities included, but were not limited to:- Leading the event marketing of the Arm Research Summit, including creating digital and print collateral, blog writing to promote each wave of the campaign, website updates, working with the Campaigns Manager in paid social advertisements, and getting the Researchers involved internally with promoting the message, and much more- Coordinating external blogs with the Researchers to ensure there's a constant flow of recent research, keeping Arm at the forefront of innovation. Within this, I write social posts to increase the reach of their work, creating promotional infographics and assets to increase engagement. I also coordinate and write International Women in Engineering Day and National Inclusion Week blogs to build a sense of community- Being the go-to designer for the team, creating social posts (LinkedIn and Instagram stories namely), email assets, and information packs- Writing and collating our external newsletter, sharing the best news pieces from the team in effective formats that the audience will resonate with- Internal updates, both to the Research department and Arm generally. This includes gathering all the relevant information from the best people, ensuring that project advancements are written in understandable ways- Acting as one of the go-to for marketing and communications based questions, whether that's liaising with PR, the social team, or building a rapport with our Researchers so they feel they're getting the best value from personal promotionMy role here was extremely creative, which I loved, and I was able to implement successful new ideas. I used our web, blog, email and social statistics to review our quarterly focuses to increase our reach and efficacy, and ensure what we were practicing connected with our target audience.

In this role, I learnt core communications skills, such as InDesign and the importance of consistent house formatting. While this role was communications led, I worked closely with the Events and Engagement Manager on event collateral, designing and printing name badges, delegate lists, and registration documents. In terms of communications, all were externally focused, and I was able to implement a social media calendar and tracking spreadsheets to ensure the communication channels were used effectively.

My role here was centred around assisting the leading Project Manager to deliver the Arm Research Summit; this entailed being the port of contact for attendees, staff and the venue, updating the online agenda and app, keeping an eye on registrations, documenting all decisions and figures, and taking minutes in all meetings. Post-event, I conducted feedback interviews with key players and tied up all tasks I was responsible for. By doing this role, I learnt that corporate events are where I want to start my career, and develop my skills further. One of the key skills I learnt was people management and how crucial it is to ensure all stakeholders are aware of changes to avoid conflict. Personally, this role enabled me to develop my people skills; as I was working alongside technology engineers, I had to learn their ‘language’ and what their roles entail to ensure the Summit was suitable for the external audience.

Working in a very local, small shop allowed me to learn what it is like to have regular customers. I worked closely with a tight knit team and management; from this, I mainly learnt the day to day running’s of a small but growing business, which I enjoyed. As the shop was creating an online presence, I gave social media advice using my knowledge from studying Marketing and Advertising. During the four days of office based work at UROK I gained understanding of how a music management business runs and the daily occurrences. I was responsible for the information email account, which involved sifting through emails and picking out any significant opportunities or updates. This also applied to any phone calls I received. I also travelled around London visiting companies that UROK work with to deliver artwork and messages. Throughout the week I checked the calendar for artists, such as Jess Glynne and Tom Odell, and sent email reminders about the week ahead to the teams involved.

I worked for Jess Glynne as her tour manager's assistant. I helped the manager complete tasks throughout the day as well as aiding the band in setting up. During this, I gained experience in the music industry in terms of management, but also what it’s like to work for a VIP and what is entailed in making their experience top class. At the beginning and end of Mike Dignam’s set as a support act, I made sure as many people as possible signed up to the mailing list to help sell CD’s. I spread a general awareness about this artist and gained an understanding how important these tasks are as well as how spreading word can benefit an artist's career.
