Artist. Writer. Problem solver. Bad mood annihilator. No, not a tagline for a movie. It’s a tagline for Rhea Dease. But… If we were talking about a movie and needed somebody for the lead role who is all those things plus incredibly hard-working, talented and creative, I’d go with Rhea in a heartbeat. And if we needed more than that? Some special skills? Rhea’s got that covered too. Let’s start with versatile. I had Rhea work on two teams—content creation (games and series) and marketing. With her combination of graphic design skills and strong storytelling and copywriting abilities, she did a stellar job bridging the gap between the two departments. But she did more than that. Rhea was an ideas machine, brainstorming and solving creative and logistical problems. And she constantly came up with original series and games concepts, some of which we are continuing to develop at Kinsane today. Now, let’s move onto attitude. Rhea is a blast! My daily meetings with her were THE favourite part of my day. They were productive, creative, and filled with so much humour we soon had other team members sitting in just for a comic jolt of energy. And finally, there’s the biggie: She’s proactive. I mean this woman looks around at the company and figures out on her own things she can do to make people happier and more productive, and just better. An example: Rhea started and ran a weekly doodle session that drew in not just artists but also accounting people and the HR people and everyone else, and created a kind of company-wide team spirit you seldom see. And that’s really what is most special about Rhea. She is incredibly easy to work with—no ego, disarmingly honest, eager to learn and to help others grow—plus she’s a natural leader. She builds cohesiveness and positivity for everyone around her. Bottom line: Rhea’s awesome!
