Title: Statistical analysis of melt-pool monitoring data within Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) of metals by means of machine learning algorithms Using Machine Learning techniques, I analysed monitoring data from printing process of LPBF, and detected defects, which may occur during the process. The data were provided by the on-axis melt-pool monitoring system of the M2-Cusing machine from Concept Laser GmbH which utilize high speed camera and photo diode. The final algorithm showed promising results on sample build-jobs, showing a strong correlation between defects and the density of the sample parts. Besides the scientific benefits, which I gained during my work at the Robert Bosch GmbH, I learned a lot about the significance of teamwork and project management. The packages used: TensorFlow, Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, scikit-learn, Matplotlib, IPython, Pillow, Tkinter, Jupyter Notebook, and others ... Show less

I did my internship at the 3D printing section of Robert Bosch GmbH. My tasks were mainly about the quality assurance of metal-printed parts by Laser Beam Melting of Metals process. As summary, - Data analysis of melt-pool monitoring system of M2-Cusing machine of Concept Laser GmbH - 3D scanning of printed parts to check the geometry deviation - Metallography (cutting, embedding, polishing and microscopy) of sample parts to check the porosity and the relative density - Conducting several experiments to check the effect of surface roughness on the melt-pool monitoring data - Development of Python scripts for image processing and data extraction from protocol files (Overall Equipment Efficiency) were my tasks. It was an amazing experience to work in the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light. Helping with the data analysis of Interferometry Scattering Microscopy (iSCAT) setup was my task there. This setup was used to track the nano particles, which were attached on the surface of biological cells. By getting the trajectory of these particles, they could find out information about the cells behavior. I used MATLAB and Python for image processing of the data from this setup. Actually this is the start of my works in the field of Laser Beam Melting of Metals (LBM-M). I did this student job at the "Material processing and additive manufacturing" group of LPT institute. This job was followed by doing an internship in the same field at the Robert Bosch GmbH.
