Serving as a summer intern for John Knox Presbyterian Church in Marietta, GA. This congregation is a neighborhood church located in an increasingly immigrant (Brazilian and Latino) community. In fact, the church grounds are shared by both John Knox Pres. and the Brazilian Christian Church (also a Presbyterian Church). John Knox is a smaller, aging church who are dedicated to the community in which they live. My responsibilities include several written assigments (case studies, etc.) as required by the Seminary, hospital visits, homebound visits, liturgy and worship leading, as well as preaching five times (every other week). One year congregational internship in a program-sized Presbyterian (USA) church. Charles M. Durham was head of staff. I taught Sunday school, helped out in campus ministry revitalization, visited members in hospital and hospice care, served on several committees, and assisted in worship liturgy. This was a great way to learn about the ins and outs of a ministerial vocation before going off to seminary. One year congregational internship in a program-sized Presbyterian (USA) church.
