Michael is a man of conviction and devotion to Jesus Christ. He has honored God through his love and service to his family, his heart for the local church, and as a great friend. When I was a student at Denver Seminary alongside Michael, I was greatly encouraged by his depth of understanding when it comes to God's Word. He simply loves to learn, think, and share about the riches of Scripture and theology. It's rare that a person with that kind of intellect is also one of the most fun and adventurous humans on the planet, but that's Michael. I know that he will have an impactful ministry of preaching, teaching, and shepherding God's people for the rest of his life.

Throughout my third year of college at King University, as a Resident Assistant (RA), Michael was my supervisor as Area Coordinator of Liston Hall. Throughout that year Michael became a prominent spiritual influence in my life. Weekly, after RA meetings, I would find myself sitting with Michael and another co-worker in his apartment, conversing and gleaning wisdom from him. Michael constantly spoke truth into our lives as RAs through scripture, poetry, and advice. He lead us with strong organization and structure, but never lacked compassion, truth and personableness. Michael showed us the importance of being passionate and dedicated to your work, wherever that is and whatever that entails. He exemplified leading with honesty and authenticity, as well as with great discipline. Michael did not stray from the hard questions and took great initiative to uproot issues within Liston, but with all truth that he brought forward, he showed great love and grace. Every bit of direction he gave us was coated his vigor for Christ and everything that the Holy Spirit filled him to be. Even after his departure from King, Michael remained a source of wisdom and direction for me. He pushed me towards justice and fighting for what was right, towards making great art and imitating Christ with all that I am. He still pushes me towards those things. Michael was the best leader and supervisor that I had as a student at King and his impact has continued from those days into my twenties. I would recommend Michael with my whole heart as a spiritual leader and pastor of others. He has surely been one for me. 2011 - 2017
During my first seven months in East Africa (2011-12), I was often asked to preach at local churches, which is where I can most clearly pinpoint my call to full time ministry. In Ntagacha, Tanzania, I helped lead a children's home with over 100 children and in Kimana, Kenya I lived with a Maasai family and helped build their local business while assisting the local church. My second trip to East Africa came in 2017 when my wife and I were able to accept a three-month vision trip to partner with long-term missionaries and discern how the Lord was moving in our lives. On this visit, I assisted with pastoral training in both rural and seminary settings and Cassie used her gift-set of Occupational Therapy to enhance the lifestyles of many people we met and point local families to the Local Church. Cassie and I continue to praise God for relationships in East Africa and are currently fleshing out what it looks like to have a dual call to American local church ministry while also partnering with the global church.
