I have been working with Reuben in 3/6 Battalion for almost 2 years now. Upon first meeting him, it is easy to see why he is seen as a leader and a go-to man for commanders. His calm and confident brand of leadership has served him well in the NZDF, being placed as a section 2IC while still a private, a rare appointment only made to those who demonstrate capability and reliability. Reuben has always shown up to exercises no matter the weather or how gruelling the task is. He has provided an ideal role model for new recruits, and I can confidently say that I have benefited from being a member of his section. Reuben has always been the first to extend a hand to new members of the battalion, and will always be the first to give them that extra motivation should they start falling behind.
