Working at Mid Counties Coop requires me to act professional throughout every shift, whilst also maintaining excellent customer service by going the extra mile for both customers and colleagues. This role also requires me to always be aware of my surroundings to ensure safety and minimise risks on the shop floor. Furthermore, I have to always check the fuel pumps and parking lot, via cameras, in order to prevent any issues. If a problem was to arise I would address it by following protocols and working with other colleagues to problem solve, therefore preventing any further incidents happening. In addition, I am required to lift heavy and fragile items, rotate stock throughout the day and handle cash in store. I have further responsibilities, on occasion, by helping with the opening and locking up of the store, which has given me a larger insight in the responsibilities of how to behave responsibly in management.

    • Customer Assistant / Delivery Driver
      • Mar 2018 - May 2020

As a delivery driver it was my responsibility to carry out vehicle checks before and after each delivery shift to ensure the safety for myself and others. I was also required to plan my delivery route, and for this time management was very important for every shift in order for each delivery to arrive in time for a customers designated time slot. Problem solving was essential for events such as road closures so I could inform the customers or my colleagues of any delays for the deliveries. This role required excellent communication skills and driving carefully and considerately for every shift, whilst also creating excellent connections with potential customers to create more sales.

      • Jul 2016 - Mar 2018

Working as a postman requires a lot of organisation skills. At the start of each shift I would have to sort through letters and parcels and check that each one was assigned to the correct route. This meant that great concentration skills were needed, as every single letter and parcel required an equal amount of care. This job also required us to wear our PPE and follow the safety protocols, this ensured a safe workspace and helped to protect ourselves, whilst we were out on delivery. It was also necessary to do a risk assessment of each property, this made sure our vehicles, equipment and ourselves were safe at each location. Safety was further ensured by communicating to each other and reporting any incidents or risks that had been observed. We also had to manage our own routes and work on our time management skills to guarantee the parcels were delivered on time and every letter or parcel, in the van, were delivered every day.

      • Jun 2016 - Aug 2016

As a lifeguard it was important to be a leader as well as working as part of a team. This was needed to make sure we were working together to help people in danger or who had been injured in the facility. I also had to be competent in administrating basic first aid when and if it was needed. I was required to attend staff training every month to keep up to date on the latest information and ensure we were taking the correct protocols in terms of first aid and pool safety for customers and staff. I needed to maintain an awareness of my surroundings in every area of the building, especially when I was pool side, to ensure the safety of everyone and make sure I was reporting any risks. The skills I developed from this job were staff and customer safety, problem solving, observation, communication and teamwork.
