Bartender

Sep 2022 - Present
The position covers a wide range of responsibilities including running the bar, serving food, and setting up the venue for special events such as Corporate meetings, large birthday parties and weddings. Since my employment, I have been trained how to tend a bar and quickly become confident working without supervision. The bar is attached to the venue space, so is open specifically for hired events. Often, these events have over 200 people in attendance so we can have queues upwards of 30 people waiting to be served. It is our responsibility to deal with this pressure calmly, with effective teamwork between serving staff and efficient communication with customers to ensure orders are made correctly, queues do not grow too large and customers are served quickly. Sports Assistant (Lifeguard)
-
Oct 2017 - Present
York Sport Village operates as the gym and swimming pool for The University of York, as well as giving public access to its facilities on a membership basis. Sports Assistants must hold a lifeguard qualification licensing us to legally supervise a swimming pool, perform pool rescues and administer first aid. The shift system operates on 0 hour contracts; which has allowed me to continue my employment since I was 16 because I can work shifts over the Christmas and summer periods while away from university. In this role I am entrusted with a substantial responsibility to protect the lives of swimmers. Over my 5 years of employment I have contributed to multiple life-saving rescues requiring me to engage with my training and communicate and work effectively with fellow lifeguards, management staff and paramedics. I am also responsible for carrying out opening and closing tasks to ensure facilities are safe. Show less

Street Team Supervisor
-
Jul 2022 - Aug 2022
The Street Team is a marketing team at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival using traditional marketing (i.e. flyers) to sell tickets for Assembly's shows. The team was comprised of 16 members. Team members would have a maximum of 6 hours a day on the streets of Edinburgh handing out flyers for, and giving information on, Assembly's shows to prompt ticket sales. I was responsible for supervising the everyday workings of the team, ensuring the shows with low sales were being prioritized, and liaising with the Marketing and Press Office to organize the distribution of show reviews. Reviews were published by many local and national newspapers, magazines or blogs at random times throughout the festival. 4 or 5 star reviews needed sticking onto the poster for the corresponding show. I was responsible for coordinating the locations of each poster around the city with which members of the team were optimally placed to take which review. Additionally, my insight into the day-to-day workings of the team meant I was in a unique position to advise Marketing on what was working and what needed to be changed. My rapport with the team members themselves meant top-down changes could be effectively made. Show less
