  Through collaboration with faculty, staff, and other research program coordinators, I obtain brain imaging data to learn more about nicotinic receptor density in the brains of tobacco smokers, as well as gather pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic data to learn more about delta-8-THC, delta-9-THC, and how cannabis may impact the metabolism of other commonly used medications.   Research assistant collecting behavioral data from video-recorded sessions to elucidate the role of female sociality in hamadryas baboons.I contributed to a project on the adaptive value of female sociality in hamadryas baboons. My role aided in the collection of behavioral data from a set of videos that have previously been recorded by members of the Filoha Hamadryas Project in Ethiopia. I was trained to use behavioral sampling methods, including both focal and scan sampling, and gained experience using an ethogram when collecting observational data. The data extracted from these videos will be used to assess the strength of dyadic social bonds of female hamadryas baboons. Show less

  The Jane Goodall Institute continues Dr. Goodall’s pioneering research on chimpanzee behavior that started 59 years ago, transforming scientific perceptions of the relationship between humans and animals. Today, the Institute is a global leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats, widely recognized for establishing innovative community-centered conservation and development programs in Africa, and Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, the global environmental and humanitarian youth program, which has groups in more than 120 countries. I worked with the Community Engagement Team to help advance and manage the Institute’s brand, messaging, and engagement. I did this by drafting/editing copy for our webpages, e-newsletters, blog, and social media, and supporting outreach efforts through local events and online initiatives. I conducted analyses on the performance of JGI’s marketing and communications efforts, worked collaboratively to support other departments, and conducted research in order to help develop ongoing advocacy and campaign efforts.
