• Project involved synthesis of C3 symmetric small molecule linkers for synthesising bicyclic peptides. • An extensive literature study was also carried out on previously reported linkers which resulted in the development and synthesis of novel linker molecules. • Techniques used: Classical organic synthetic techniques, flash chromatography (manual and automated), crystallization, NMR (1H, 13C and 2D NMR), LC/MS, GC/MS • Project involved synthesis of C3 symmetric small molecule linkers for synthesising bicyclic peptides. • An extensive literature study was also carried out on previously reported linkers which resulted in the development and synthesis of novel linker molecules. • Techniques used: Classical organic synthetic techniques, flash chromatography (manual and automated), crystallization, NMR (1H, 13C and 2D NMR), LC/MS, GC/MS

Kasper Moth-Poulsen group • Worked on MOST (Molecular Solar Thermal) storage project. • The research focus specifically involved testing different pathways for synthesis of norbornadiene (NBD) photoswtiches with various substituents. • Various techniques used were Williamsons ether and Vilsmeier Haack reactions, Suzuki coupling reactions running TLC’s and flash chromatography columns. • Structure validation carried out by analysing 1H and 13C NMR. Research Intern - Organic Chemistry
-
Jun 2019 - Aug 2019
Bates lab • Worked as a research intern as part of a collaborative exchange internship between Chalmers University of Technology and UCSB. • Major focus was on synthesis and incorporation of an azobenzene photoswitch into Polymeric Ionic Liquids (PIL’s) to make them light-responsive and alter their ionic conductivity with a light stimulus. • Various techniques used were azo-coupling reactions, SN2 reactions, running silica gel columns and TLC’s, RAFT polymerization, freeze-pump-thaw and Schlenk line techniques, and characterising using 1H NMR. • Participated in an elevator pitch competition, poster presentation and research presentations given to my peers and also a general audience.
