I am very proud to head our European department for entrepreneurship at ESCP, which we have branded as the Jean-Baptiste Say Institute for Entrepreneurship. Across all our ESCP campuses we are an amazing group of 60+ people devoted to teaching, research and practice of entrepreneurship. I joined ESCP on the Berlin campus in 2015 as Professor for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Since then, I have the pleasure to cocreate all sorts of challenging and rewarding projects in a growing team of dedicated people. One highlight for me is acting as the Academic Director of the Executive Master in Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership (EMDIEL), our part-time signature programme for all those who are looking for alternatives to a standard (E)MBA. When we founded Effectuation Intelligence we had only taken first steps towards developing the theoretical model of effectuation into a method for driving entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial initiatives. In the meantime, effectuation has proven to have come to stay, established as a cornerstone of entrepreneurship theory and as an cocreative practice to foster innovation in all sorts of contexts. Next to working with established organizations on becoming more entrepreneurial, one of our core activities is growing our community of effectuation experts with our Effectuation Expert Curriculum. At RWTH Aachen, I started out as Phd student at the newly established Chair for Business Administration for Engineers and Scientist. After studying at a pure business school, the breadth of topics at one of Germany's top engineering schools became an exciting field to explore entrepreneurship in a variety of ways: 1) growing the technology transfer activities of RWTH Center for Entrepreneurship with EXIST grants, 2) starting to teach, coach and research active and future technology entrepreneurs in their spin-off process, and 3) eventually joining a technology start-up myself. As assistant professor I then had the opportunity to further qualify for the academic arena, working together with doctoral students and international colleagues on entrepreneurial decision-making under uncertainty. At 3M, I had the amazing opportunity to learn about corporate world, innovation and management at an early age. Besides moving through a set of different business administration functions, I also had the opportunity to join the work council as trainee representative, allowing for insights into higher level managerial decision-making. In addition, I saw the new technology center take shape right next to the German headquarter.
