In over three decades as a public school classroom teacher, I have built relationships with thousands of tweens and teens. I have been their cheerleader, nurse, mom (or grandma), counselor, coach, and ally all while maintaining high expectations for behavior and achievement. I have collaborated with colleagues whose ages span over four generations and have continued to learn from each person and experience. Computer Science Discoveries Facilitator

During the 2016-2017 school year, I was chosen as one of 35 teachers from around the country to pilot the CS Discoveries curriculum. That summer, I was brought on as a facilitator and have enjoyed helping more than eight cohorts bring CS to their students, schools, and districts. I have also served on Code.org’s Professional Learning Advisory Council and I collaborate on special projects every chance I get.

I help the curriculum team update and maintain units in the Computer Science Discoveries curriculum. Examples of this work include updating rubrics and slide decks, creating new "helps & tips" documentation, and giving feedback on new or updated lesson plans and activities. Additionally, I coordinate with a team to create, update, and maintain professional development agendas and experiences. This work is a collaboration with another education consultant to create a metacurriculum comprised of lessons that utilize STEM and Computer Science resources to engage students in Out of School Time (OST) programs. The curriculum has been centered around the themes of Me, My Family, My Community, My Environment, My World, and My Universe.
