As a first initiative for a Master Data Management solution Smallsteps has implemented a subset of a generic data model based on Len Silverston's "The Data Model Resource Book" and using Microsoft Master Data Services (MDS) to maintain the data. In response to experiences with this first initiative for a Master Data Management solution chosen is to design and to develop a new more robust Master Data Management solution to maintain and to manage the data less cumbersome and time consuming. Activities: 1. The design, build and implementation of a dynamic configured ADF Pipeline solution to extract data collections from data sources to the new Master Data Management solution 2. The design, build and implementation of an Automated Test Solution to integral test the technical and functional working of the DAL stored procedures automatically. 939 testscenarios are now part of the solution 3. The design, build and implementation of a new Master Data Management solution (MDM2.0). Starting point is the data reality of the source data. The physical data model of the new Master Data Management solution, implemented on a Microsoft Azure SQL database, contains parts of a generic data model (Party Management) and organisation specific entity types like CostCenter and Service. A Data Access Layer (DAL) existing of 89 stored procedures has been built to maintain and to manage the Reference and Master Data by executing SQL scripts 4. To maintain and to manage the Reference and Master Data stored in Microsoft Data Services. Instead of using Excel a number of SQL scripts has been developed, which adds data to the MDS "Leaf" tables and which executes MDS stored procedures to process the data stored in these "Leaf" tables into the MDS target tables

DSB Bank wanted to have insights in the volume and progress of the credit applications. Within six weeks’ time a Data Warehouse consisting of 6 facts has been built with DDM Studio. Two of these facts contained the Six Sigma Key Performance Indicators. Achievements and activities: - Analyzing Data Sources - Analyzing SQL scripts containing Six Sigma Key Performance Indicators built by DSB Bank (which have been substituted by the Data Warehouse) - Designed and built a solution which automated the execution of SQL scripts (by using CURSOR functionality of T-SQL) as part of the ETL process. Toolset, Techniques and Methodologies: - Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - T-SQL and Integration Services - DDM Studio version 1 - Dimensional Modeling

      * The First BI Solution In a period of 19 years I have fulfilled six disciplines in IT and Financial Control at a large homecare organization in Amsterdam. My first programmer task was to build an HR report based on the registration of sickness notices. Data Quality issues of all kinds were encountered during this project :-)! With thanks to the HR manager these data quality issues were finally managed at the source: the HR system which supported the business process of the registration of sickness notices. * The Second BI Solution As a System Administrator in 1989 I setted up a new maintenance organization. Also I improved / redesigned the report processes, which resulted in a reduction of the time to produce the Annual reports with 75% (2 weeks instead of 8 weeks). * Management Information Systems / Data Warehouse / Agile In 1991 I became a System Analyst / Programmer. From 1991 until 1999 I have designed and built a number of Transactional Systems and a number of Management Information Systems and Data Warehouses. The method I applied was prototyping: building systems together with business users. In my opinion this is agile :-)! * Administrative Organization and Internal Control After having designed, built and implemented a Dimensionally Modeled Datawarehouse in the first half of 1999, I joined the Financial Control department. The reason for the switch was that I got the opportunity to analyze business processes from another perspective. * Data Warehouse Implementation In 2003 I switched back to IT as a Senior Functional Application Manager. In this discipline I was part of the team, that was responsible for the implementation of an enterprise wide Data Warehouse (2006-2007). After this implementation for me it was time to focus 100% on Data Warehousing.
