In this leadership role, I perform the day-to-day task and project management of 4 PIOs, 4 multimedia specialists, 1 social media specialist and 1 videographer (and up to 3 interns). I am also the gatekeeper and point of contact for all incoming requests for the Office of Communications, Education, and Engagement. Current projects include creating, updating, and finalizing SOPs to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all internal and external information. Coordination efforts included working division-, department-, and interdepartment-wide, and externally for diverse audiences. Some of my projects included creating an editorial style guide for HCPH, writing communications plans and social media strategies; working on department-wide factsheets for divisions, offices, and programs; coordinating with web designers for a complete website re-design; and executing a unique social media strategy amid a public relations problem for the Harris County Pets animal shelter; and more. In my role, I oversaw all Communications needs while coordinating with department leadership and other Harris County department managers to ensure their Communications needs are met. This was a unique experience because I was brought on as the Communications Manager for this brand new department in the first year it was created by the Commissioners Court. At the time, I created everything from scratch, using other county departments (and similar government entities around the country) as a guide. This included all the graphic design, marketing, social media, publication designs, signage, marketing, outreach, etc., as well being the liaison for projects such as sharepoint, website design, and more. I created and distributed all of news releases and was the point of contact for all media inquiries and with the precinct offices. I led an exciting collaboration with UHCL graduate students in my former program — Digital Media Studies. In this real-world (yet still simulated) client-based simulation, I worked with students as if I DEEO their client, and tasked them with developing content — while providing them with internship-adjacent experience and pieces for their portfolios. I would love to elaborate if given the opportunity. Show less
