During the regular school year, I work as a substitute or “guest teacher.” As a guest teacher, it is my responsibility to make sure that students do not lose a day of education simply because their teacher is absent. I administer the teacher's lesson plans, answer students' questions, and assist students with their classwork. As a guest teacher, I serve as a team member with my colleagues by taking on supervisory responsibilities (i.e lunch duty or hall monitoring); upholding school rules; and assuming responsibility for the students and their work. During the ‘21-’22 school year, most of my guest teaching assignments occurred at Bolingbrook High School where I was also a School Counseling Intern. I had the privilege of getting to know every department in the school from our CARES program to the Fine Arts to our wonderful multi-needs classes. Show less

    • Education Paraprofessional
      • Jun 2021 - Jul 2022

During the Extended School Year (ESY) session of 2021 and 2022, I worked at the James Mitchem Early Childhood Center (JMECC) as a paraprofessional in a classroom for children with autism. My responsibilities included: interacting with students during the school day; assisting the children with motor time; implementing the suggestions of various specialized therapists (OT, PT); facilitating the lesson plans designed by the teacher; and helping the children practice basic skills. I also assisted with school-wide arrival and dismissal procedures. Show less

    • School Counseling Intern
      • Feb 2021 - May 2022

My internship as a school counselor was supervised by a Licensed Professional Counselor who encouraged me to become proficient within all three domains of counseling. As a result, I developed confidence in the delivery of social-emotional check-ins, academic counseling, and college and career counseling. On multiple occasions, I taught lessons from the counseling curriculum to small classrooms and to large groups. I assisted with numerous aspects of student services such including assessments, transition meetings, and other family meetings. I regularly practiced the responsibilities and procedures that are expected to be upheld by counselors at a large public high school such as monitoring grades, carrying out the social-emotional directives of 504 plans, scheduling courses, and participating in IEP planning. As a “closing the gap” project, I implemented a data-driven outreach for eighty-eight Sophomore students who had recently transferred to Bolingbrook High School. I surveyed the students, tracked their attendance and grades, and prepared small group meetings with the goal of helping students to experience success and a sense of belonging at their new school. • Contact Tracer
      • Jul 2020 - Jan 2021

Contact Tracers call and interview people who have tested positive for COVID-19. While preserving confidentiality, they gather information that will benefit the patient and the community. They help the person monitor their symptoms and understand when they can safely return to normal activities. They also reach out to anyone who may have been exposed to the virus to offer guidance and support for testing and quarantine. It was my privilege to join in the fight against COVID-19 as a Contact Tracer. Show less

    • President
      • Jun 2012 - Jul 2020

The great thing about working for a small company is that one gets to perform many interesting tasks. At Brightfield Electric, Inc., I was usually the first contact for new customers. I received job requests, set up estimates, and helped with scheduling projects. I was also responsible for the business accounts, employee payroll, tax obligations and our obligations as S -corporation. I participated on the marketing team in promoting the services of our accomplished electricians. I assisted in the growth of the business from a few dozen customers to 1000 customers. I left the company during the summer of 2020 to become a contact tracer. Show less
