My primary responsibilities were to foster a safe and inclusive environment among my residents, enforce school regulations, and facilitate trusting relationships among my peers to be a better mentor and guide throughout a student's personal and professional life. For a summer internship, I shadowed the job of ISP officers through riding passenger on patrol of highways and cities, and witnessed the behind-the-scenes procedures of the investigative process. My diligent observation of officers gave me first-hand experience of how to interact with people of various and unpredictable emotional states, how to write clear and professional reports, and how to spot necessary clues of a person's attitude and/or intentions. During my spring term at Augustana College, I interned with the Quad Cities based PBS station, WQPT. I actively conducted historical research for the following year's programs on Cinco de Mayo and the Mexican War of Independence. I also drafted scripts for a local documentary on Modern Woodman Park, as well as other events and to-be televised shows. The experience I gained writing drafts in these different areas (political, historical, influential, informative, and creative) allowed me the chance to view writing from a multitude of different perspectives that I think are valuable in an increasingly diverse world.
