Research development in the Internet of Things (IoT) and computer networks. Abstract: Remote monitoring of patients (in English, Remote Patient Monitoring - RPM) in the home environment has been a practice commonly used in order to monitor the individual's health condition and compliance with treatment proposed by the medical team. In addition to improving the quality of care offered, this approach has proven to be effective in reducing health expenses, since it allows automating tasks once performed by human beings, in addition to reducing episodes of hospitalization and unnecessary visits to hospitals and medical clinics. Reproducing real-life scenarios to test health applications is a complex and challenging task, particularly in the RPM scenario, given the small number of available and standardized databases available for use. A technique used to perform tests in this scenario is the simulation of the biological data of the patients. Several tools have been proposed to support this activity, but they have a number of gaps, mainly related to scalability and data sources used for simulation. This paper presents HealthSimulator, a simulator for evaluating Health applications aimed at RPM applications. HealthSimulator seeks to simplify the simulation of biomedical patient data in order to provide support for assessing infrastructures and services for healthcare applications. System validation tests focused on scalability and the use of real databases have proven the potential application of HealthSimulator for validate RPM applications.
