  At Dat.Mobility I do research about public transport, car transportation, and human movements. In my current role I am programming a high resolution, data driven, maintainable, national traffic model from hundreds of gigabytes of source data that can be renewed over time. Most of the work consists of data preparation, data warehousing and mathematical modeling using PostgreSQL, Ruby, QGIS, OmniTRANS and R.   My thesis was entitled: Tuning liquefier dynamics: A strategy for accuracy improvement in extrusion based additive manufacturing with PEEK. I gained practical experience with advanced test setups and deeply dived into the theory on working principles of a 3D printer liquefier. I modeled the behaviour and came up with a sophisticated tuning strategy that enhanced the dosing of the challenging material to the desired places considerably.   After completing my bachelor assignment on this topic I continued working on the printer. I got a grant to improve the design. I made a new structural design with aluminium profiles, better linear guides, motor controllers, sensors and spindles and an UV projector. I helped a graduate intern with further process improvement. In the meantime I started to work on my own firmware, but due to the increased workload of my graduation assignment this was discontinued.

  As board member of the study society for Industrial Design S.G. Daedalus (University of Twente) I was responsible for public relations: I had to arrange lunch lectures, excursions, brainstorms and find advertisers. I had to raise sponsorship money and I had to guide several committees, including the Symposium Committee, Partnership Committee and the Promotion Material Committee. I have visited a lot of companies, fairs, brainstorms and network meetings and I also contacted many companies by phone and e-mail. By doing this I've learnt a lot about the value of industrial design, the implementation of design in the industry and the communication with partners and promotion of events to the students.
