Pretty Plastic aims to produce facade claddings out of upcycled plastic waste that look great, are safe in use, easy to apply and last forever. From trash to tile! Pretty Plastic contributes to a circular economy where waste does not exist and raw materials are used over and over again. Reinder Bakker is co-founder and principal of Dutch spatial design studio Overtreders W that specializes in temporary no-waste architecture. Overtreders W like to call themselves material choreographers: they see materials as if moving over the earth's surface in an endless performance. They direct those material streams in such a way that they become architecture for a while. When designing temporary architecture as a step in the material choreography, they always take the next step into account. They process material in such a way that the original sizes remain intact and different materials can be separated again. Their work includes the award winning People's Pavilion from 100% borrowed materials and Brasserie 2050 for the Lowlands music festival. Reinder Bakker is also one of the founders of Pretty Plastic, a startup company that produces recyclable cladding material that is entirely made of plastic waste from the building industry. Show less
