Explaining things and helping people grow has always been a part of my journey. I studied to be an art teacher in college and did that for 5 years in Vermont. But when my son passed away, I found myself back in Bloomington, IN with a hole in my heart and a vision for helping as many kids as possible. Fortunately, Harmony School saw the value in what I wanted to do and gave me the opportunity to teach there. I basically had total freedom the build curriculum around math, reading, science, PE, and everything else. So each year we waded through streams, built imaginary businesses, invented games, got a few bumps and bruises, and immersed ourselves in learning what this world has to offer. It was a time I truly loved and will never forget. Show less

I started mowing lawns when I was 13. First with a small push mower but pretty soon I was cruising around behind a 48" Exmark Walk-behind mower. I couldn't drive yet so I'd stand on one of those wheely things attached to the mower and just ride from house to house. My headphone were blaring Guns N Roses and Metallica. My left ear is at about 50% as a result but I can still sing every word to "Sweet Child of Mine". High School turned into college, college evolved into a job as a teacher and throughout it all, I mowed lawns. There's something I love about Throwing on headphones, turning on an engine, and seeing how straight I can make the lines. Show less
