As an intern for Rape Counselors of East Alabama, I am dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of survivors of sexual assault and promoting a safe and supportive community. Through my role, I actively contribute to the organization's mission of providing comprehensive counseling, advocacy, and education services. It is our goal is to reduce the physical and psychological aspects associated with the trauma of sexual assault and to enhance the treatment and recovery process. I work closely with survivors by assisting them through the crisis hotline, providing immediate support and resources during their most vulnerable moments. Additionally, I attend court proceedings, offering emotional support and guidance to survivors throughout the legal process. Responding to hospital calls is another critical aspect of my role, where I offer compassionate support and accompany survivors during forensic exams. In addition to direct client support, I also contribute to the development and implementation of awareness and prevention campaigns. By utilizing my research and communication skills, I help create educational materials, organize community events, and raise awareness about the importance of consent, bystander intervention, and overall sexual violence prevention.
