Main activity was to conduct energy modelling and develop greenhouse gas emission mitigation scenarios using LEAP software. Ongoing projects: - Nordic Energy Research project "NORSTRAT" in the program "SES2050" - A carbon neutral power system in the Nordic region in 2050. To develop scenarios for Estonian energy system for possible carbon neutral development scenarios regarding the electricity generation as well as through partially electrification of transport and heating sector. Evaluation of impacts on need for transmission grids and analysis of policy instruments in Estonia for development of a carbon neutral electricity system. Completed projects: - Modeling of Estonian energy scenarios and analyzing the production portfolio, primary energy consumption, CO2 and SO2 emissions as one part of Strategic Environmental Assessment of the Estonian Energy Strategy till 2020. Completed in 2008. - LIAISE - Linking Impact Assessment Instruments to Sustainability Expertise. Comparative analysis of the application of LEAP model on the energy scenarios of electricity and heat production in 2000-2006 and 2007-2010. Completed in 2012. - Modelling and analysis of the scenarios for the oil shale development plan using LEAP software. Completed in 2012. - Estonia's opportunities to move towards a competitive low carbon economy in 2050. Development of electricity generation scenarios, modeling and analysis of the scenarios for the low carbon economy using LEAP software. Completed in 2013 Show less
