Work included the giving of nature, adventure, and teambuilding programs to kids from 4th grade to 8th grade. Work time is spent either lesson planning, teaching, or working on course materials and content with other instructors. Extensive time is spent leading and planning hikes for classes with focus on holding the students’ attention, time management developing curiosity, and using knowledge and skills to empower students. Work included extensive leadership and supervision of kids from the ages of ten to sixteen. I led and supervised kids both in a residential camp and in trail settings. I led them on backpacking trips as well as through a camp experience that both involved teambuilding, wilderness guiding, program leading, conflict resolution, group management, and the teaching of skills. Wildlife Intern

Work included a large variety of tasks and projects including: Spring and Fall Vegetation Surveys over an area of 40,000 acres and then using that data to create a report explaining the state of the land in terms of wildlife and cattle, making grazing recommendations, wildlife surveys, especially of Bobwhite and Blue Quail, Radio Telemetry tracking of collared quail, capture of quail chicks, ATV maintenance and repairs, tractor operation for shredding, plowing, and planting, grubbing of mesquites using skid steers and excavators, habitat evaluation for wildlife and cattle, hospitality services to hunters, cooking, scouting for deer, demolition, and caring for dogs. I worked an average of 50+ hours a week.
