I have been working with Rebecca at Berwick Psychology and Hypnosis for 6 months now and I feel like I have known the team forever. The team are warm, welcoming and supportive. Rebecca is a wealth of knowledge and I have learnt so much from her already. I would highly recommend Rebecca as a supervisor, manager and mentor.

Rebecca has created a warm, inviting, and supportive atmosphere as Berwick Psychology and Hypnosis. I love starting my workday by chatting to our wonderful admin team and knowing I have the option to reach out to any of my colleagues whenever I need. I'm extremely grateful for the opportunities that have been provided to me whilst working at BPH, including recent hypnotherapy training. Rebecca's wisdom and knowledge as a supervisor has been monumental in my development as an early career psychologist. To have the opportunity to learn from her is a privilege.

I founded Berwick Psychology & Hypnosis in 2013 as a solo private practitioner. Six months later demand outgrew supply and I enlisted my first contractor to share my client load. This contractor, Priya, remains with me to this day and is a valued, loyal provider and team member. We quickly outgrew the single room I leased in a shared private-practice and moved into a three room clinic below the original premises. The clinic has continued to grow and today supports the livelihoods and careers of five mental health practitioners and has helped in countless lives being helped and supported to overcome mental health issues. We have a vast network of referrers and colleagues working together to better the lives of our clients. These include GP's, psychologists, psychiatrists, mental and allied health workers, insurance funding bodies, employers, naturopaths, local businesses, schools, sports facilities, clubs and other community groups. I love learning about and growing my business. I continue to invest time and energy in it so it continues to grow and offer a stable, positive, fun and supportive environment for my team, my clients and the community to work with and within. During my three years at Footprints of Angels/The Oakhouse), I was a member of a team of dieticians, psychologists, counsellors, social workers and volunteers who provided Intensive one-to-one counselling, psychotherapy and support to sufferers of eating disorders and education, support and therapy to families, friends and local community groups. During my time at the Oakhouse, I learned fundamental lessons about the human brain, spirit, body and mind. I learned how the mind can work in relation to an eating disorder and about the cognitive distortions we can develop as humans. I developed skills to work with trauma, starvation, co-morbidities, anxiety, personality disorder, hospitalisation, suicidality, depression, family conflict and violence. I witnessed the full impact that mental health suffering can have on an individual, their friends, families, the community and workers and truly began to understand the value of self-care and self-love. This early-career opportunity formed the foundations of many of my professional philosophies, values and skills as a therapist. It taught me the value of developing a collegial team, regular peer support and supervision, how to engage a client that may not be ready to change and how to set healthy and consistent boundaries with others. It taught me so much and I always passionate about sharing my wisdom, learning new ways of helping and current research in the field. I continue to engage and work with sufferers of eating disorders, disordered eating, body image, self-esteem and weight concerns. I subscribe to the HAES movement that espouses to embrace the body shape we have, eat nourishing food and take care of the vehicle we have been gifted. Show less
