Passionate, knowledgable and a natural leader, Becky has been an integral part of the Marie Curie Corporate team and a privilege to work with over the last two years. She consistently surpasses targets, develops new opportunities and inspires others, resulting in some of our most successful corporate partnerships. As my line manager in 2016 I can also vouch for her ability to develop and encourage others to reach their full potential. She is definitely one to watch!

Rebecca was an incredibly organized an thorough employee of JDRF. She succeeded at managing many obligations at the same time, and always kept her composure. I had the pleasure of shadowing Rebecca at a business meeting and gleaned many valuable skills from this experience. She was a great mentor and teacher. I would definitely recommend Rebecca.

ActionAid's approach to private sector engagement is to build partnerships which deliver on long-term business goals, whilst future-proofing the company by leveraging our expertise in embracing the principles of the SDGs and UN guiding principles into the corporate strategy. Partnerships we develop are broad in scope, harnessing the dual-power of advocacy and resource mobilisation to create lasting positive impact. Every partnership is bespoke, based on programmatic needs, country approach, business strategies and technical expertise, and we are ambitious. We understand the power of the private sector to affect change and we will push our partners and ourselves to achieve the best possible outcomes for workers, communities, families and individuals who have a limited voice of their own. Due to entrenched gender inequalities in many countries, ActionAid focuses support and engagement on women and girls. We do this by tackling gender-based violence, economic empowerment and supporting women as leaders in climate-change related disasters. Focusing on women is the quickest, most sustainable and most powerful way to support the whole community. Crucially, the exclusion or inadequate inclusion of women in industry has a huge impact on any business, so for the future sustainability of business in global markets it's vital for the private sector to address these challenges head-on right now. My role is based in the UK, but with oversight of private-sector partnerships and engagement with businesses HQ'd and/or operating in the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore. Show less

In this role I led the team through a turbulent period as we merged with Breast Cancer Now to become the UK's largest breast cancer charity. Strong team management and internal influencing were key attributes which enables me to succeed in minimising team attrition and achieving BAU objectives, all whilst inspiring the team to maintain a positive attitude which focused on growth.

In this role I am embedding an ambitious 5-year growth strategy which will transform the way Breast Cancer Care works with the business world; developing sector-leading partnerships which deliver direct positive impact to people living with breast cancer. • Team Leader ICS Nepal (Baglung)
      • Nov 2016 - Feb 2017

In this role I led a team of 22 UK and Nepali volunteers delivering programmes in SRH, WASH and DRR in rural communities in Baglung, Nepal. My role was split equally between people and project management: providing professional guidance and pastoral support to the volunteers, as well as ensuring that more than 133 programmes were completed across five communities in 12 weeks. During the 12-week placement I lived with a local family in a small rural community, so that I could fully immerse myself in community life in order to better understand it, and could be on-hand 24/7 for volunteers. After the volunteers left I moved to Kathmandu to write references, evaluation reports and provide recommendations for future cycles. As a Team Leader I was able to gain strong insight into international development from both the grassroots in community and the overall strategy from a national level through working with the VSO office. At Marie Curie I managed large national corporate partnerships across a number of industries including long-term partnerships with Superdrug and Yorkshire Building Society. I also line managed two Corporate Account Managers and oversaw the team account portfolio. My account portfolio generated over £1 million p/a through engaging staff in fundraising, developing commercial opportunities and identifying areas of strategic crossover with the companies who support us. The partnership with YBS raised over £1.15m against a target of £500,000, and I was able to extend the partnership with Superdrug for a further two years which was worth an additional c£2m to Marie Curie. The partnership with Yorkshire Building Society won the 2017 Charity Times Award for Corporate National Partnership of the Year with a Financial Institution. Show less
