Manage the care of normal antepartum women including teaching, counseling, and support. Perform assessment and manage normal post-partum orders, and administration of oxytocics. Perform assessment of readiness for and discharge of patients from the hospital. Provide initial routine care of newborn inclusive of aspiration with DeLee and endotracheal tube (in case of emergency), assignment of APGAR scores, and initial newborn examination in the delivery room Provide resuscitation of the newborn by mask and bag. Collect, document, and evaluate patient data. Take health history and perform and record the obstetrical physical evaluation. Assess patient needs and formulate and implement a plan of care for each patient consistent with established guidelines. Operate support, consultation or collaborative management for those patients and families experiencing critical illness and/or potential death. Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of problems.
