Rebecca Knol is the Chief Executive Officer of the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy, the leading industry body representing the resources sector in South Australia. SACOME members generate 50 per cent of South Australia’s exports, $6.4 billion of its gross state product, and contribute $299m in royalties to the State annually.Rebecca brings significant national and international experience in the mining and oil & gas sectors to her role. Following a refresh of SACOMEs strategic focus and member value proposition, Rebecca has overseen consolidation and success at SACOME.Significant achievements include: • securing $200m in state and commonwealth funding for the duplication of the Joy Baluch Bridge; • legislative reform enabling explorers to access more than $6.4 million of federal funding;• facilitation of Australia's first cross-sectoral electricity purchasing group and signing of a landmark 8-year electricity deal with SIMEC Zen Energy that provides affordable power to some of the State’s largest energy users• Provision of time critical advice, protocols and procedures to ensure the resources sector was able to continue operation during the COVID-19 pandemic• Launching of Resourceful South Australia - a successful media campaign profiling the importance of the resources sector to South Australia. • Reviewing the draft Mining Regulations that will further assist in modernising the statutory framework governing mining, exploration and quarrying activities in South Australia. • Significantly contributing to and shaping the State’s 20 Year Infrastructure Strategy • Successfully advocating for the establishment of an Australian Radioactive Waste Management in South Australia Rebecca continues to position SACOME at the forefront of policy and advocacy leadership in South Australia.
