The Public International Law & Policy Group is a global pro bono law firm providing free legal assistance to states and governments involved in peace negotiations, advise states on drafting post-conflict constitutions, and assist in prosecuting war criminals. To facilitate the utilization of this legal assistance, PILPG also provides policy formulation advice and training on matters related to conflict resolution. In my position as Research Associate, I conducted legal research and undertook administrative tasks, such as the organization of the annual PILPG Netherlands conference.

As a research assistant and translator, I contributed to a joint project of Womanstats and the Wilfried-Guth Endowed Chair for Competition and Regulatory Policy at the University of Freiburg. My task was to build up a database on inheritance law and matrimonial regimes in francophone countries. Therefore, I had to identify and translate the relevant legal sources and reports from French into English and code the information accordingly to the provisions of Womenstats. The data is integrated in the WomanStats database- a research project under the leadership of Valerie Hudson which collects detailed data on the living circumstances of women worldwide in order to provide data for quantitative research on security and women’s rights issues.
