Working as part of a European project team with Etex, Marley's parent company, I was responsible for creating and then aligning UK marketing strategy with European objectives for fibre cement profiled sheeting. The aim was to move away from a product sell strategy to a system sell strategy with a strong marketing message of improving animal welfare to increase productivity in agriculture. I was chosen to lead the European project for the equestrian sector which involved working with other European colleagues to create generic marketing messages for local markets. We delivered a new product which was suitable for the equestrian and other livestock. This was the only product to date to be laucnhed from that project. Show less

Reporting directly to the company Chairman, I was encouraged to make the role my own and improve the way the company planned and implemented its marketing activities. Responsibilities included marketing planning, selecting and managing multiple agencies, digital management & strategy, exhibitions, reviewing & rewriting company literature, creating marketing campaigns and social media. Ahead of a new British Standard update to BS5534, I worked with a creative agency to create the 'Take it as Red' campaign to promote the company's JB Red Roofing Batten. This campaign was a huge success and when John Brash were bought by Marley, I was asked to join the marketing team at Burton on Trent and subsequently followed this up with a follow up campaign called 'Rely on Red' which is still used to this day.
