In this role, I taught classes in professional communication skills, setting up informational interviews, securing service learning internships, goal setting, and reflection. My course School Leadership exposed students to event management and community planning. In College and Career Planning, students explore personal interests and values and used that information to make informed decisions about their life and career goals and explore their options. I also coordinated student leaders and advised the following programs: Work Study, Office Assistants, AHS Student Ambassadors, the Student Leadership Collaborative, Project Unite and was a co-facilitator for Attleboro Be Heard: Attleboro Community Coalition for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Mentored high school students in event management to coordinate the Attleboro Area Special Olympics School Day Games. In 2010, I helped students create a collaborative student organization that promotes inclusion in school and in sports. Project Unite is an organization made up of students from three local high schools who plan and coordinate two large community events each year. They have participating in the Polar Plunge for 7 years and have raised over $100,000 for Special Olympics Massachusetts and in 2018 planned their first plunge succeeded in being the most profitable first year plunge in the state. They also coordinate the largest school day track and field event in the state of Massachusetts and welcome over 850 athletes to their field for a day of competition and fun each spring. Show less
