Aaron Dear ☁️

Hey, candidate companies. Imagine this: your implementation engineers run into a bug while building for a client They start feeling the pressure of the deadline to have a working solution, crack their necks, do a quick stretch, then hack a solution together. It works, sorta. Then, they will let that bug -- small, large, who knows -- fade away. They will NOT accept responsibility to report and document how they ran into it. After all, it "isn't [their] job". Rachel doesn't do that. If it's a client demo, she'll get it working. But then here it comes. She will document and repro. Then she will tap product engineering on the shoulder and ask a simple question: " how does it do that?" If that response wasn't good enough, she'll ask to clarify further: "But then, how does it do that?" Unlike other engineers who are pressed with a deadline and just want it to go away with hacked solutions, like poster children of Skinner conditioning in anxiety avoidance, Rachel is strong enough to face the tough questions and let product engineering teams really know. Her sense of responsibility to the product -- no matter what role she may be in -- is pure. This has always made her stand out to me. In a world full of people whose highest aspiration is making a lot of money and minimizing their own anxieties, Rachel is one of those people who actually gives a damn about people, product, and her role in making them truly better.

I had a wonderful experience working alongside Rachel for over three years. Rachel is an inspiring person to work with - she does not hesitate to learn new technical concepts and dive into uncharted territory, returning her experiences to the team to share her knowledge. Rachel is a natural project manager and solution engineer. Her leadership in developing a critical strategic project led to a well-designed functional work of art. She stands out as a coach and leader when times get tough. Her attention to details and aspirations to always deliver her best work to the organization positively challenges everyone she interacts with! It was an honor to manage Rachel at Skuid. I've learned a lot from her, and I look forward to seeing where she will make an impact next!
