Sir Robert McAlpine is a leading UK building and civil engineering company. Committed to the highest standards of quality, safety and sustainability, they deliver outstanding projects which meet and exceed clients’ expectations.Recent high-profile projects include the O2 Arena, Emirates Stadium, the Eden Project, Cabot Circus in Bristol, the M74 Completion in Glasgow and the Olympic Stadium.A family-owned company with a wealth of experience accumulated over more than 140 years, we recognise that understanding our clients’ core values and aspirations is key to their success. They work with clients across all the major market sectors, tailoring our design, construction, technical and management capabilities to meet their evolving needs. They also look to fulfill the responsibilities to the communities and environments in which they operate. Their success is underpinned by their corporate stability, the quality and expertise of the staff, their collaborative approach to business and their skill at providing cost-effective solutions to construction challenges.Whilst starting out working for SRM as a labourer on the Jubilee Line Extention I gradually worked my way up the career ladder as an electricians mate on another contract Blackfriars House Hotel to then being a logistic assistant at the Fore St underpass development in North London. I then became a security guard at several other sites to eventually becoming the Security Manager at their high profile job of developing and construction of The Emirates Stadium. Where I would liase with the emergancy services as well as directors of both Arsenal FC and SRM. Directing over 20 security guards as well as inductions and certain security issues that needed implicating on a daily basis. Working out logistic issues for pedestrians as well as vehicles and plant. With over 2000 staff on site every day it proved to sometimes be very challenging but worth while.
