For this position, I mostly helped maintain the garden through weeding and the occasional landscaping task group. I sometimes engage with visitors, greeting them, answering their questions, and/or striking conversations with them about the gardens. With the help of the staff, I quickly learned the needed skills, providing the gardens a strong work ethic and a kind spirit. This position involved volunteering at a mobile food pantry established by Feeding Tampa Bay at Hillsborough County Community College's Dale Mabry Campus. Typical tasks performed included providing food to incoming vehicles at the food pantry's drive thru and leading incoming and outgoing vehicles through the pantry's line. Additionally, the position also saw me coordinate with team members and communicate with incoming drivers in an effort to make the pantry as inviting as possible. There could be a vehicle in the middle of the line who needs to leave because of an emergency, and it is the responsibility of the pantry's team to create enough space for the vehicle to leave. Overall, I enjoyed my experience volunteering for Feeding Tampa Bay as it allowed me to interact with memorable people and truly help my community during the pandemic. Show less

Being a Brand Ambassador for Suncoast Credit Union was part of my high school's academy of finance program. The internship saw me and a partner design and present a PowerPoint that could convince Suncoast Credit Union executives to appeal to younger generations through social media. I got to practice applying the skills learned in my business classes and practice new skills regarding discovering sources. The experience truly boosted my confidence by allowing me to prove to myself what I can accomplish. In the end, my partner and I performed a presentation that amazed. Show less

Typically, this position involved working with a volunteer group in organizing clothing donations at one of OASIS's donation storage places. Other times, I would also assist the group by bringing in bags of donations, taking out bags of donations to drop-off sites, and throwing away broken down equipment. Nevertheless, regardless of the work that was involved, I was always collaborating with the team in some way. If one of us needed help deciding how to categorize a donation, we could always rely on each other for another viewpoint, if one of us needed help lifting a heavy object, there could be found another person willing to lend a hand. In a sense, the experience marked my first time collaborating with other people outside of school, and it was a worthwhile experience that I will never forget. Show less
