      • Monitored the process capability of the operations performed in the Value-Added Assembly (comprised assembly of Rear Axle, Cradle and Strut) using “Minitab”. Successfully achieved a 54% increase in Process Capability using “Statistical Process Control” techniques. Also trained the supervisors of Quality department to use Minitab for daily process capability monitoring. • Performed Root Cause Analysis of the failure of Chevrolet Beat in Squeak & Rattle test. Documented the Practical Problem-Solving Report (PPSR) and Identified the root cause within 3 days by using SWAP analysis and “7 Diamond” Process. Conducted “Design of Experiment” to reconfirm the root cause and implemented corrective action. Supervised the corrective action until First Time Quality (FTQ) was achieved. • Co-ordinated with the Manufacturing Engineering department to troubleshoot problem encountered in the Bearing Press Machine which was leading to 100% rejection. Repaired the problem in 2 days and achieved 0% rejection the following day. • Designed an experiment to perform Co-relation study between the part parameters (Bearing ID, Wheel Hub OD, Press Force and Plunger travel). Analyzed the statistical data using Scatter Plot and negotiated with the Manufacturing Department about the results directing the issue toward machine instead of part quality. • Attended the Apprentice Training for “Red-X”. Studied the GM-Global Manufacturing System and Built in Quality (BIQ) principles. Created Management presentations for Project Status and Updates. Show less

Project Title: Design, Analysis and Manufacturing of Composite Camshaft by Using Force Free Heat Shrink Technology. Details: The primary objective of the project was to increase the strength of the fuel lobe. The further objective was to design the assembly process. Process flow: • After studying properties of various materials, the material for fuel lobe was selected. • Based on the requirement of torsional load, interference fit was finalized as the assembly process and the product dimensions were designed. • To achieve the necessary interference, heat shrink fit process was finalised. • Later the CADD model of the product was analyzed in FEA for following parameters: 1. Thermal Load 2. Axial Load 3. Torsional Load • Fuel lobe was internally heated and then checked for any hardness or microstructural changes. • After assembling the fuel lobe on the shaft, the fuel lobe was tested for axial and torsional load. • These results were compared with the designed values and the values obtained in FEA analysis. The comparison delineated that there were not much variations and the designed process was used for mass production of camshaft and is still in practice. Show less

Project Title: Understanding of Assembly, Testing process & Cold test issue resolution Department: Quality Department (Powertrain Division) Activities Performed: • Understanding of different parts & function of engine which can contribute to cold test issue. • Verify inspection of parts are done as mentioned in FTA analysis. • Observe operation wise process in Assembly & Testing. • Identify the situation where Product Quality norms are not followed & informed immediately to take actions for concerned person. • Learn Problem Solving tools & techniques • Studied the testing process of an engine: 1. Cold test 2. Hot test • By using the knowledge of the assembly process, the functions of each part and the quality tools I was successful in finding the root cause for failure. • The quality tools used were: 1. Root cause analysis 2. Cause validation matrix 3. Why-Whys Show less
