Deputy Commissioner/Adult Institutions - Kentucky Department of Corrections

I appreciate and enjoyed the opportunity to fill in and act as the DOC Commissioner until our permanent leader was selected. This is an era of unique challenges to not only the KyDOC but all correctional facilities and beyond. I am thankful that our current Commissioner, Cookie Crews, was selected. She has the right skills at the right time to lead us through these challenges.

I was a non-commissioned officer assigned to the 16th (Airborne) and 18th MP Brigades with the United States Army but first mobilized with the 623 Field Artillery from Kentucky. My primary responsibility was supervising a team and squad of soldiers conducting combat patrols, convoy escorts, and joint training/mentoring operations with the Iraqi Highway Patrol. Our primary area of operations was in the Balad, Taji, Bagdad and Scania areas to include some work in Samarrah and Tikrit. I was deployed and in country for 12 months with over 200 combat missions performed. Show less
