I teamed up with my surgeon co-founder to solve a large problem in healthcare: provider-to-family communication. Families of patients are left in the dark for hours, with infrequent and insufficient updates from the medical staff regarding their loved one. So, we built a mobile communication platform that lets medical staff send one-way messages to the families of their patients anytime, anywhere. Implementations of Familyfirst has been shown to increase communication-related HCAHPS scores. I worked as a Software Engineer Intern in a small start-up environment that consisted of an agile workflow, constant code-reviews, and an all-hands-on-deck philosophy. Throughout the summer, I worked closely with the Founder and CEO as I contributed to the OpenClass web application. I spent time brainstorming and designing user flows, implementing product features, improving usability, and patching bugs. My primary responsibilities involved engineering, but I was exposed to the growth and marketing side as well. Show less

I interned as a Software Engineer at Sealworks Interactive Studios, for the summer of 2017. Throughout the summer, I developed various proof of concepts based on technologies including VR (Unity and GoogleVR), AR (ARKit), and mobile (iOS, PhoneGap). I also conducted extensive user testing for the DBQ Online project, an eLearning platform that over 500,000 students use nationwide. Near the end of the summer, representing Sealworks, I attended the Realities360 conference in San Diego, CA. There, I attended various sessions and lectures on the emerging industries of VR/AR and how they can benefit eLearning. Show less
