Randy was my manager when I moved in as Technical Marketing Engineer back in 2012. He was a great manager who provided guidance and opportunities to establish myself in the team. Randy and I started working on building applications for Cisco Webex Teams (formerly Cisco Spark) and that is when I realized that he was not just a great manager but Randy was hands-on and very technical. Ever since (almost 4 years now) I have seen Randy both as an awesome engineer and a great manager. Together, we have come up with many innovative applications that have helped tens of thousands of Webex Teams users (within Cisco, our Partners and Customers). I have worked with Randy and used various technologies including Natural Language Processing (NLP and NLU), Handwriting Detection (OCR), APIs of Webex Teams and many other products, data brokers like MQTT, Botkit, and UI development. He is versatile and a quick learner and looks forward to doing things in the right way. Randy even developed a Virtual Reality game using Unity and integrated the game with a Cisco product. After he moved out of Collaboration, I have seen some of his awesome work on IoT and Augmented Reality. Randy, even though is a Director by role, has the heart of an engineer. Very few people have the right balance of technical and managerial skills - Randy is definitely one.
