Peer Advisor at Berkeley Study Abroad
-
Aug 2017 - Dec 2018
I assisted students in finding and choosing a study abroad program that fit their own individual academic and personal goals, while providing insight on social and cultural differences between the United States and their host country/host institution. I frequently participated in panels directed towards students from underrepresented communities (AAPI, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, First Generation) to provide them with my insight as a person who has studied abroad and comes from many underrepresented communities, encouraging them to also study abroad. I assisted in developing a successful program in the Philippines between UC Berkeley and UP Diliman by facilitating connections between vital parties, providing outreach to key demographics in the Berkeley community, and representing the interests of students during development meetings. I served as a front desk receptionist, which included responsibilities such as assisting individuals via phone, maintaining in-person visitor data, and redirecting students to their appropriate regional advisor while ensuring that they felt comfortable and welcomed in the Study Abroad office.

Summer Intern
-
Jun 2016 - Aug 2016
I maintained the company’s social media platforms by editing photos and writing posts for Instagram and Twitter on a weekly basis. I wrote clear and concise notes during meetings between the company and prospective partners, to serve both as a resource to recall key details from the meeting, as well as to debrief the supervisor and team on what was discussed during the meeting. I learned how to navigate a multicultural and multilingual work environment by learning basic Cantonese and communicating ideas in English in a way that was accessible to all my coworkers.
