Optimization of Trailer Refrigeration Unit (TRU) The major simulation was done using MATLAB Simulink where I deployed a hybrid energy system using a patented technology of IM efficiency (PV-Solar module) which supports the diesel Genset of the Trailer Refrigeration Unit. My approach finds the optimum operating points of both the power sources. A non-linear optimization problem was built to solve the energy management issue with several constraints. Thus my model outputs always maximize the usage of Solar power while minimizing the diesel fuel consumption as a result I achieved 30% fuel savings. Show less
