      Played an integral role as a volunteer in several ecological projects aimed at conserving Nottinghamshire’s local wildlife and habitats. These include the:* Crayfish Project: An activity based in Bulwell Park, Nottingham to eradicate the invasive Signal Crayfish in order to protect the native Whiteclaw crayfishResponsible for: entering ponds to check, empty and reset traps; handling catchments; measuring and neutering males over 40mm in carapace length; demonstrated and – newer volunteers; entering ponds to net juvenile crayfish along embankments* Grizzled Skipper Project: cleared areas of scrubland to create suitable habitats for the endangered grizzled Skipper butterfly – Part of the volunteer force on multiple occasions including a session I organised as a coalition between the Biodiversity Officer and University of Nottingham’s Conservation and Nature SocietyGained valuable insight into the inner workings of organising and running conservation projects, coupled with an appreciation for their importance
