MS Electrical Engineering Thesis: “Transient Stability Analysis of the Grid System with Distributed Generation”. IEEE 14 bus test system has been used to simulate the scenario using ETAP. Wind generation units available in ETAP have been used to represent the distributed generation units connected to the test system. Critical clearing times for faults at different locations with and without adding distribution generation units are compared to find the effect of adding these units on the transient stability of the test system. It was proved that the Transient stability of the system improves considerably by the addition of distribution generation units. Projects Worked on: Designed single line diagram of a test grid system using ETAP for load flow studies, short circuit analysis. Single line diagram of a test system with protection devices is designed to obtain time current characteristics and protective device coordination. Load flows, optimal power flow and Continuous load flow on IEEE 14 bus using PSAT toolbox. Power Electronic circuits like buck to buck converter, half-bridge inverter circuits are designed using PSCAD. Designed a control circuit using SCR to turn on and off DC motor of 50A for every 60 seconds using Simulink. Designed ADC and DAC circuits in 90nm technology using Cadence. Designed charge redistribution Serial Digital to Analog Converter using Cadence. Show less
