Toxicity of perfluorinated compounds in zebrafish embryos using Metabolomics. - Led the investigation of affected metabolic pathways by measuring concentrations of different metabolites with LC-MS. - Implemented qPCR experiments for gene expression analysis to corroborate with the Metabolomics results. In vivo characterization of kefir isolates. - Effectively confirmed metabolic in silico predictions for Ln. mesenteroides and L. kefiranofaciens by culturing the isolates in different chemically defined media. - Further elucidated interactions between isolates by measuring the levels of different carbon sources with HPLC. Molecular diagnosis of the prevalence of etiologic agents in children with diarrhea in the Brazilian semiarid. - Compared different methods of molecular diagnosis for the presence of DNA from bacteria, parasites and viruses in over 300 samples. Obtained a faster and more efficient diagnosis with Multiplex PCR/xMAP. - Successfully determined genetic variation of virulence genes on enteropathogenic E. coli. - Training and supervision of two exchange students.
