For my capstone clinical, I worked with a nurse in Corona Regional in there Outpatient Pre-operation unit for 120 hours. I was able to practice and hone in on my nursing skills and be able to become familiar with medications that are given in each different rotation. The nursing skills I was able to practice were performing the general and focused assessments, the insertion of a foley catheter, and also the initial insertion of an IV.

I perform a quick interview with each camper to ensure allergies and medication needs are addressed and a schedule for medication administration for those with prescriptions are established. I then communicate with the other members of my team to ensure all staff members are aware of the camper's allergies. I am also in charge of the camper's medication and ensure that it is kept in a secure location.
