Work as a student helper in collecting soil samples and surveying. Does drilling, site excavation, sample collection, and logistic distribution. The company works mostly from DB (Deutsche bahn) and other big firms for soil quality management. – Soil sampling for the construction of buildings, fibre optics, water pipes and the environment quality analysis – Determining the consistency limits – Carrying out dynamic load plates – Ramming core probing with soil probing – Pile-driving with the heavy pile-driving probe – Determining the grain distribution with the aid of wet sieving – Planning of excavation sites Show less

Multi-method approach to characterize the lake bottom of a gravel pit lake (Baggersee Grötzingen) The Thesis consist of comparative application of multiple methods to assess the amount and composition of the sediment in the Grötzinger gravel pit lake. Next to the WASSP Multibeam, a Sub-bottom Profiler will be used to create acoustic data. The validation of these data sets will be conducted using sediment information from core samples and data from a free-fall-penetrometer (GraviProbe). To also obtain direct visual information about the lakebed a diving robot will be used to take pictures at a selection of spots. – Analysis of lake sediments using different approaches and comparison of large- scale data using GIS systems – Creating maps and analysis on ArcGIS Show less

Hydraulic stimulation of the water network in North Vietnam with EPANET and QGIS The work task of teh project was “Modelling of water distribution network with ArcGIS and QGIS” and “Hydraulic stimulation with EPANET”. In the hydraulic simulation, the water distribution network of the city and adjacent villages of Dong Van in northern Vietnam was modeled into EPANET and analyzed. The project is part of a collaborated project funded by the German Federal Ministry of education and Research (BMBF) called ‘KaWaTech Solutions’. The distribution network consists of about 12 km of pipeline, 6 distribution tanks, and several storage tanks with a supply from the nearby river Sea Ho. The Tanks was modeled in EPANET with consideration of the weir overflows, height factors, and controls and functioning. The hydraulic system behavior must be observed, and different case scenarios must be validated. Show less
