Production Planning Team Leader
-
Aug 2006 - Dec 2008
Key responsibilities included- Primarily responsible for ensuring special orders (approximately 40% of total output) are processed and completed to the correct specification and on time.- Maintain parts lists and part routings using the JDE MRP software.- Despite lacking the necessary experience required for the role, I was promoted to team leader within two years as a production planner. I managed a team of 5 people including two NC programmers, 2 CAD designers and a production planner.- Volunteered at numerous Kaizen events held within the company to reduce cost. In one particular event I was part of a team of five that identified a potential £40k cost reduction.- Trained internally to use CAM software RADAN, which meant I was able to program parts to be manufactured in the plant on either a laser cutting machine or a punch machine. This gave me a good understanding of how various parts are manufactured and gained knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
