Assistant Teacher with 10-14 year old students learning in an outdoor classroom located on the campus of Common Ground High School in New Haven CT. Successfully created a classroom environment outside that fostered intellectual growth mixed in with an appreciation for the outdoors. At the end of the summer, my students were able to explain how much they gained an appreciation for the outdoors and what they used to see as "dirty" , now they don't think twice before picking it up. Waiter at on campus restaurant delivering quality customer service to students and university staff. Started off as a simple food expeditor but as my familiarity grew within the job environment, naturally I made strives for more. I became trained to be a server and quickly established myself as a dependable employee who knew the place in and out. Being a food server was a humbling and enjoyable yet testing experience. I loved the freedom of being able to have a conversation with someone I barely knew over the love of food and I gained a lot of communication and interpersonal skills by working in such a fast paced environment.

    • Intern
      • Dec 2016 - Feb 2017

This internship was completed during my final winter break in college where I made sure I was productive. I was always eager to work at a corrections facility and to be able to work with a younger population made this a great opportunity. I took it upon myself to reach out to the facility and ask them for a short term internship which they appreciated. I learned a lot from this experience and it made me a lot wiser. It made me gain a sense of empathy like never before and a better understanding of the socio economic variables that cause one to spend a portion of their lives in a corrections facility.Job Duties: Experienced assisting and overseeing the juvenile inmates and getting to know their everyday lives at this facility and what landed them in the system. Shadowing Youth Service Officers and Special Education teachers to understand the logistics of the facility and gaining a better understanding on the corrections system.

    • Summer Intern
      • May 2016 - Sep 2016

Served as a summer intern for CPA working with Case Managers, Probation Officers, Intervention specialists providing clients who are part of the criminal justice system with social services to help them adjust into the normal life. This internship goes down as one of the major experiences that shaped me as a professional. I had an amazing relationship with my boss who I instantly connected too. What started off with regular administrative duties quickly turned into more complex tasks such as handling urinalysis testing which signaled a trust forming between me and the staff. I was able to gain loads of confidence and felt comfortable enough to reach out to my superiors for professional advice. To this day I am regularly in touch with my former boss and I make sure to let him know the impact he had on me and my professional life.

      • Sep 2015 - Jan 2016

Interned at the Rockville Superior Court working closely with Prosecutors, Court Clerks, Public Defenders and Victims Advocates gaining a full understanding of the court system. As a student eager to learn about criminal justice, I was hungry for more than a lecture or a simple class. I took the initiative to get my feet wet and reach out to the court for an opportunity. Here I learned a lot working with professionals who let me shadow and observe them. The direct exposure led me become more knowledgable of the court systems and helped gain a self of confidence that came from having a interesting internship. Huge experience in terms of my interests and this internship helped me narrow down my career interests later on in my collegiate experience.

Worked with summer school students and other educators to produce a efficient learning environment. This was my first internship, one that I wanted to really experience. I knew that working at a school was something I was interested in from a young age so having this really set the tone for me. I got to work closely with my former boss who taught me a lot about urban farming and the history of CT and agriculture. Looking back, I am very glad I did not settle for some lousy part time job, yet took upon a bigger challenge from which I grew as a person.
