      Master thesis project: Perirenal Adipose Tissue and Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma: "The triad: macrophage-cancer cell-adipocyte" at TMI group. Internship: “Study of Hyperglycemia Influence on Fibrosis Development using animal models: diabetes-cancer link insights” at TMI group. - Developed my Master thesis: "Perirenal adipose tissue and clear cell renal cell carcinoma: the triad cancer cell-macrophage-adipocyte". - The results obtained in this project were used for the development of: (i) my Master Thesis (ii) a PhD Thesis of a FMUP student. - Co-author in 1 book published by Elsevier Inc.; 5 abstracts selected for oral (1) and poster (4) communications at national conferences; Best e-Poster Communication (1) in the Health Sciences area. - Communicated through regular internal presentations in team/division meetings. - Flow cytometry: surface staining of molecules expressed in macrophages, 786-O ccRCC cancer cells, and adipocytes. Using FACS Diva software and posterior analysis performed with FlowJo software. - Monocytes isolation from healthy human buffy coats and macrophages differentiation. - Adipocytes isolation from renal cancer patient samples; adipocytes isolation protocol establishment and optimization. - Cell and tissues culture: 786-O ccRCC cancer cell line, co-cultures with macrophages and tri-cultures used additionally, adipocytes isolated from tissues. - ELISA and cytokine analyses of mono, co and tri-cultures; Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E), Masson’s Trichrome (MT), and immunohistochemistry (IHC) of perirenal adipose tissue samples from renal cancer patients; DNA extraction; RNA extraction of macrophages, tumour cells, and adipocytes & RT-qPCR; Western-Blotting; Gelatin Zymography; Protein Quantification; Agarose gel electrophoresis. - Quantitative analysis using Quantity One and Image J. -ELISA and flow cytometry results statistically analyzed using SPSS and GraphPad Prism 9 software.
