As a co-founder of Rio-based startup ResolveAÍ, I led the team that built and launched ResolveAÍ Taxi, Brazil’s first taxi app and platform. I was the lead developer for ResolveAÍ’s back-end system. This highly scalable application is able to multiplex thousands of simultaneous taxi requests between 50-plus partner taxi fleets based on several different criteria. It includes an adaptive, self-calibrating supplier rating system, and it features integrations with 6 taxi dispatch software providers, payment gateways and many other open APIs. Leading a mixed team of in-house and outsourced developers and designers, we built full-fledged apps for Web, iOS and Android. We have iterated the user experience and product features several times, making use of agile methodologies, usability tests and round-the-clock CRM. We have developed a B2B application for automated taxi dispatch in high-flow environments (shopping malls, airports, etc). This application is currently able to accurately forecast demand in such locations based on real-time data and demand indicators, and to automatically manage the supply of taxis to maximize efficiency and minimize drivers’ and customers’ waiting time. I have also served as ResolveAÍ’s co-CEO. Through this experience, I have become intimately familiar with Lean Startup methods such as Business Model Canvas and Customer Development.

Consultant
-
2006 - 2011
I collaborated in over 40 economic and business consulting projects, under area manager Prof. Fernando Blumenschein. I developed a Bayesian model of long-run regional and global fuel prices with proven 2-year accuracy, published in a joint whitepaper with Ernst & Young (http://bit.ly/15j4erS). I also developed an innovative Bayesian model of fare-setting for public infrastructure concessions, published in a policy paper for a leading Brazilian highway holding company. Finally, my team rebuilt a municipal subway system’s econometric demand forecast model. I produced cash flow-based analysis and valuation of several existing and planned concerns, including a large regional bank, an ethanol plant, a municipal subway system, and several other infrastructure concessions. Economic and business consulting - I produced fiscal and economic research to aid decision-making for sector leaders on mining, oil & gas, beverages, electric energy, logistics and direct sales, among others, as well as several public-sector institutions. I wrote policy papers and defended them on public hearings. I also participated in the planning and formatting of governmental reverse auctions, achieving cost reductions of over 30%.
