Working with the archivists, I am responsible for scanning, editing, and cataloging our extensive photograph collection for public and academic access in our Past Perfect database. I have also had the opportunity to create an institutional collection regarding volunteer organizations over the past century of the museum’s existence. Working with the Archives Manager, I am responsible for maintaining the organization of the analog and digital collections in our database, utilizing best practices to preserve and curate Democracy Now!’s large digital collection of video, and monitoring the global news service feed. I also helped to create the workflow for two large scale digitization projects: our 1⁄4” reel-to-reel collection, as well as our VHS tape collection. Working with the head librarian and the director, I was responsible for assisting patrons both online and in person at the reference desk. I developed an indexing system for a new acquisition of microfilm, and helped the library to collaborate with San Francisco State University to create a long-term storage solution for multimedia collections, leading to the project being completed months ahead of schedule.
